![]() ![]() ![]() No character's quirks or possibilities have gone unappreciated. A lot of time has been spent grinding, but that means I've unlocked a lot of Job skills for a lot of characters and have some really interesting strategies under my belt. This means that 60 hours into the game, I'm only about 75% of the way through everybody's Chapter Twos, and everybody is at Level 35 or higher. But because I was under the impression that each character needed to be the level indicated on their Chapter flag, I constantly changed my party to make sure nobody fell too far behind the others. LMAO I have my favorites _ /M3jnKoCrnjĪs you can see, Tressa, Cyrus and H'annit are my preferred party along with my protagonist Primrose, with Ophilia, Olberic and Alfyn bringing up the rear. After the Chapter Ones and a few Chapter Twos, my character levels looked like this: Why does this matter? Well, we all have our favorite characters, either those whose stories and personalities most appeal to use or those whose skills and talents best suit our playstyle. Ophilia's Chapter 3 flag says "Level 38" on it, but Ophilia does not have to be Level 38. Each chapter flag on the world map indicates the minimum level you must be in order to enter that city and pursue that character's story.īut - and this is super important, stay with me now - that character does not have to be that level in order to do that chapter. Once you've done that and start tackling a few Chapter Twos, Chapters Two and Three start opening up across the world. Doing all of the Chapter Ones is a no-brainer you race eagerly across the map to gather all eight of your octopath travelers. Your Chapter One for each character is a recruitment and origin story, setting up the character's motivations, personality and backstory while introducing you to all eight of the world's distinctive regions. I feel like these games are much more tactically interesting when all your party members are balanced in terms of levels.Octopath Traveler's eight stories are divvied up into chapters across the World Map. But that's the thing.I really dislike having 3 characters serving as underlings to a more powerful character. As you say, you could keep the others underleveled to balance things out. I'm not saying having your main character higher leveled than the others would necessarily make the game easier. Maybe stealing some better gear would have helped too, admittedly. Trying to beat him at lvl 18 was an exercises in futility lol. I had to grind to level 20 to finally be able to beat the boss (recommended lvl 22). I was planning on grinding as little as possible, but just realized now, after beating my first Chapter 2 boss, that level requirements are more than mere suggestion. I'd rather grind at strategic locations than be continuously interrupted by random encounters. I'm mostly playing the game with Evasive Maneuvers on except for when I want to grind to reach the minimum level requirements (or get closer to it). I've finished the other characters' chapter 1 so that I can use them for their path actions if necessary. I am playing the game with Cyrus (main), H'aanit, Ophilia and Therion. I feel like these games are much more tactically interesting when all your party members are balanced in terms of levels. Really feels tacked on at the last second.Ĭlick to expand.I'm not saying having your main character higher leveled than the others would necessarily make the game easier. Personally don't really care about character banter as it seems mostly shallow and pointless the way its implemented here. Really don't understand why more money and effort isn't put into better storytelling in rpg's. The stories are also not very deep and mostly cliched. Then again I'm always critical of unnecessary dialog. Like every other thing said is the "." dialog prompt and much of the dialog seems to just repeat itself. My only gripe isn't necessarily the stories, but IMO there is way too much dialog that serves no purpose. Only times I died was by random encounters in areas where I was way too under leveled to be in. Mine is way over leveled and most chapters she's been way over the recommended level while the rest of the characters in the party are way lower, but I haven't had any issues so far. I really wish it allowed you to swap out your main character though. Collected all the characters and then did each chapter 2 the same way. ![]() I just followed the order using the recommended level it shows on the map. ![]()
